BOYS COACHES
U15 B97 Copa: Stan Baker
Stan Baker grew up in Northern California and has been a coach and teacher of the game for more than twenty years at the club, ODP, high school, and collegiate levels. During this time he has also served as a club Director of Coaching, a State Staff Coach and a Timbers Camps coach. He has earned United States Soccer Association 'A' and 'Y' coaching licenses along with FIFA recognized coaching licenses from Argentina (ATFA - Asociación de Técnicos de Argentina - Pro and Youth Licenses), Brasil (CBF - Escola Brasileira de Futebol - Level - 1 Youth License) and Peru (FPF - Federación Peruana de Fútbol - National License) He has been a teacher for sixteen years and holds a K-12 teaching credential and a Masters Degree in Education from the University of San Francisco. As a youth player Stan competed for Cal-North ODP/State Team where he participated in an ODP national championship and was invited to a United States U16 National Team Selection Camp. As an adult he played for Club Deportivo Campamento in Spain and for Victoria Club in Canada. He is a fluent Spanish speaker. Stan was named United States Youth Soccer Association's National Coach of the Year (Boys Competitive 2011).
U15 B97 Samba: Jeff Carroll
Jeff Carroll, Sr. has 26 years of playing experience, coming up through the elite A-2 men's league in northern California. He has been coaching for 23 years and holds a USSF National "D" coaching license and Coerver Coaching Youth Diploma. Jeff has been a Westside TimbersStaff Coach for 19 years and prior to joining WT served as Vice President in charge of Player Development at Santa Rosa Central Soccer Club in California. Jeff has concentrated on the development of younger players, taking the WSM Boys Phantoms from Classic 2 at U12 into the Premier Division at U14. They traveled to Hawaii, winning the Aloha International Tournament Cup and were awarded the Referee's Coin for good sportsmanship. He also took the U14 Girls Rage to England, placing second in the Newcastle, Tyneside Tournament while playing in the U16 bracket, and also won the Pondus Cup in Denmark. He has taken three second teams ( "B" teams ) to state cup semi finals, 2001 WSM Phantoms / 2006 WSM Porto, / 2009 WSM Rampage.
U16 B96 Copa: Jimmy Velasco
Jaime "Jimmy" Velasco has been a Westside Timbers coach for the last year. Jimmy holds a National "A" coaching license. He recently moved from Anchorage, Alaska where he was the founder and Director of Coaching for Full Force Soccer Club. Jimmy is a Region IV ODP Staff Member and is fluent in Spanish.
U16 B96 Samba: Jim Maine
Jim is currently an assistant coach at George Fox University. Jim was the boys' soccer coach at Newberg High School for seven years. He led the Tigers to playoff berths four times from 1995-2002. He was named the Pac-7 Conference Coach of the Year in 1997 and the Pac-8 Coach of the Year in 1999. A native of Yakima, WA, Maine was a two-time MVP, team captain, and First Team All-League selection at Eisenhower High School. After a year at Spokane Community College, he played for George Fox from 1992-94. He also played four seasons of professional soccer with the Yakima Reds of the USISL in 1995, the Cascade Surge of the USISL in 1997-98, and the Portland Pythons indoor soccer team in 1999.

U18 B94 Copa: Jimmy Velasco

GIRLS COACHES
U15 G97 Copa: Chris Thurley
Chris has coached the very successful WSM Premier this year and is the current coach of the Jesuit High School Boy's Team. His credentials and experience include: USSF 'A' & 'Y' (Youth) Licenses & NSCAA Advanced National Diploma; La Salle high school - Girl's Head Coach (1995 - 1996) and Boy's Head Coach (1997 - 2005), State Champions (1998, 1999, 2004); The Oregonian 3A/2A/1A State Coach of the Year (four times); Oregon Athletic Coaches Association 3A/2A/1A State Coach of the Year (four times); Tri Valley Coach of the Year (seven times). Coach of five OSYA State Championship teams since 1994. Oregon ODP Staff Coach. Chris' playing experience includes: Bishop's Stortford Swifts (1983-1991) and Essex Olympian League (semi-pro league).
U15 G97 Samba: Erick Wheelock
Erick is in his fifth year on the Westside Timbers staff and has been involved with soccer for the past 22 years. He has played high school and college soccer before coaching at the youth level. Erick was previously the Director of Coaching for Aloha United. He currently coaching the G99 Samba. He has been coaching youth soccer at the recreational and competitive level for the last ten years. Erick currently holds a USSF "C" license.
U16 G96 Copa: Danny Barlow
Danny holds an F.A. Preliminary Coaching Badge, England's equivalent of a USSF "B" coaching license. Danny was captain of both his high school and college teams and played semi-professionally in England for three years. Danny was Head Coach at the Academy of our Lady of Peace in San Diego and varsity girls coach at Canby High School.
U18 G94 Copa: Stan Rodrigues
Stan has been involved in coaching in Oregon for more than 16 years and has been on the coaching staff at Westside Metros for the last 11 years. He has his "C" license as well as his USSF adult coaching license and NSCAA Goal Keeper level IV and V licenses.
Stan coached Westside Metros teams to many league and state cup top results. His U17G Fury team won the Inaugural Oregon Premier League State Cup in 2011 and was ranked as high as 32nd in the nation. His 2009 U15B SWAT was the President's Cup Regional Wild Card Team. In 2010 they were state quarterfinalist. His U16B team finished in second place in the premier division in 2003. He continued to coach them at U17 when they were the Oregon State Cup finalist and US Club Regional finalist. He coached the Galaxy the2008 State Cup Champions at U18G and U19G and a Far West regionals quarterfinalist at U19.
Stan was the assistant varsity coach for the Tualatin High School girls’ soccer team, the 2002 girl’s state champions. Stan previously coached and was the General Manager of the WPSL Portland Rain, and was the WPSL's 2009 Coach of the Year. Stan was the former the Head Women’s coach at Clark Community College in Vancouver that made NWAACC quarterfinals in 2011.
Stan’s teams have won or placed in prestigious tournaments over the years including the Disney Showcase, Las Vegas College Coaches Showcase, Surf Cup and many more. Many players that Stan has coached have gone on to play collegiately and professionally.
